It is few months away until we can see the moment of truth! Folks, if you are an avid movie lover, you will not want to miss this information.
The upcoming Oscar has been there. And we cannot neglect the fact that we already have such fantastic movies through this year. Some of the contenders have made their way to the potential nominees. Although we are still a couple months away from the core event, it has never been too early to discuss about the prospective movies which will be crowned Best Picture Award.
Back then, Green Book surprised all of the film enthusiasts as it came as the winner of TIFF People’s Choice Award. But some critics were not really sure that the film will advance to major Oscars.
The race of the best picture awards still has a long way. And most of the underdog movies out there are yet to be released. So, it is not exaggerating to say that what is closed today will also be closed for tomorrow. Everything can change until January next year.
When it comes to the Best Picture predictions, we can say some of the prospects here. We have seen some of the spectacular movies like The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, as well as Parasite.
The films we mentioned above are what many people saw both in the theatre and festivals. The Oscar Circuit is so close nowadays. Quentin’ Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has been one of the strongest contenders that have hit the theater besides the Parasite movie. The film attained such wonderful reviews and genuine feedback from critics and movie lovers. Not to mention that it is one of the highest grossing films of Tarantino of all time. It ranked as number 2 anyway.
Then there is Taika Waititi’s anti-hate satire film Jojo Rabbit which has entertained all the viewers around the world. The great factors of the movie alone had been enough to take on Toronto International Film Festival. It won the TIFF People’s Choice Award although it was divisive. But we cannot neglect the fact that this film has overly positive feedback from the viewers.
We mentioned about Parasite back then. Did you know that Bong Joon-ho’s Korean-language movie received 100% of tomato certificate in Rotten Tomatoes? It is not less shocking than Tarantino’s Jojo Rabbit. This film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes a few months ago. FYI, Palme d’Or is one of the most accurate predictors of Oscar successful result. Palme d’Or was only the beginning. By then, the snowball effects continued.
The film indeed delivered the actual, attractive, and spectacular elements which shocked every viewer when they see the economic challenge in the modern world. Some critics said that the less you know about the film, the better it will be. But it works just like the other major contenders in different categories. Budget was a great disadvantage of the Parasite. But the storyline, plot, and casts are the powerful factors why this movie could win the Best Picture.
From Parasite, let’s move to the character-centric film called Marriage Story. As we know, Netflix is not a new player in the movie world. Marriage Story can be a great prospect to win the Best Picture for many reasons. But the core reason why we think that this film deserves this is because of Noah Baumbach perfect delivery. It accurately told us about the saddening chronicle of a couple who were about to divorce. The film was the perfect portrait of reality happening in modern society.
The other films that are worth checking are (in alphabetical order):
- Ad Astra
- Avengers: Endgame
- A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
- Dolemite Is My Name
- The Farewell
- Ford v Ferrari
- A Hidden Life
- Just Mercy
- Knives Out
- Pain & Glory
- The Report
- The Two Popes
- Uncut Gems
Besides, we come up with Joker movie. Finally! DC fans can feel the hype since Joker has (probably) saved the entire DC Dark universe. Its positive reviews could reserve a good future for DC enthusiasts. The character-driven DC Comics movie is full of surprises, shocks, and grounding reactions. The 8 minutes standing ovation has been enough fact to draw the attention for the assessors to include this film as the top nominee in the Best Picture category.
So, what do you think? Which movie do you think deserving the most for the Best Picture?
